I am such a wonderful chef. How did Todd get so lucky?

Monday's menu -
Garlic Lemon Tilapia fillets and rice pilaf and fruit salad (made from scratch)

Tuesday's menu -
Israeli Spice Rub Chicken breasts and Cumin roasted potatoes. (made from scratch)

Yum! I should have taken a picture of the food, it looked so good.

I am so proud of myself but as I told Todd, all you really need is a good skillet, a good knife and a gas stove to be a good chef. I can't wait until we get some new plates that aren't stained and chipped and some matching flatware so we can fully enjoy our meals.

I've had such a busy few weeks with work. We have just finished volunteer training today, so I can finally breath a sigh of relief. It was much easier than expected - I just had to get the ball rolling and it seemed to gain momentum on its own. Now I need to fire two of the new volunteers. I had a feeling they weren't right for our agency a while ago, so I've known this was coming. I feel awful about it, but I cannot imagine them going to speak to people on behalf of our agency.

How exactly does somebody fire an unpaid volunteer?

Since I moved to Cinci I have been an active member of a few message boards and these boards like to do exchanges. The most recent was a candy exchange. On friday I received a box filled with 4 pounds of candy from Australia. Most of it is unfamiliar and quite good. Todd and I have been having fun gorging ourselves with foreign candy. It's really fun to get packages, especially suprises.

Last weekend was Bockfest here in Cinci. The festival was kicked off by a parade led by a goat. I'm still not wild about beer, but it seems impossible to avoid beer festivals in Cincinnati. Here are some pictures:

Yesterday I had tea.....

With the Earl of Spencer....

Otherwise known as Princess Diana's brother and more importantly Prince Williams' uncle. It's nice to know that if anything happens between Todd and I I can always fall back on my royal connections.

Wow, it's been an action packed week without a break in order to update my blog.

Todd's 24th birthday was on March 1. His mom called him on February 28th to ask how it felt on his last day of being 22. He said that it was great last year. It must be embarrassing if your own mom can't remember how old you are. My uncle thought I was 25 this year. Nope, sorry Steve, I'm only 22.

Also on Todd's birthday I went on my very first hospital accompaniment for work. Whenever a sexual assault victim goes to the hospitals around here, the social workers call our agency (24 hours a day) and we send an advocate out to the hospital. My first trip was on Wednesday. It was very nerve wracking, I didn't want to mess anything up and I wanted to be as comforting as possible. I can't, for obvious reasons, say anything about it but it was an intense experience. Everybody at work asked me if I was okay afterward which I thought was a strange thing to ask. I am fine, but I need to learn to be empathetic without becoming too emotionally invested. I will burn myself out if I don't. I really have an awesome job.

I was able to do community presentations this week as well. I'm glad that I don't always have to do presentations - but I enjoy doing them every once in a while. On Friday I went to a local all-girls Catholic High School to talk about dating violence and date rape. It was great! The teacher was so fun and the girls were all so smart and respectful.
